Wait a bit, I am getting the story out of order here. After a long relaxed breakfast in the morning, we decided that we would go into San Francisco because the bikes could not be ready to unload before mid afternoon earliest even if everything went perfectly. We got a taxi down to Larkspur Landing and then took the catamaran ferry across the bay to San Francisco. What a great way to travel! Fantastic views round the bay. We arrived in SF with no real plan so just headed away from the pier and found ouselves at one of the trolley bus terminals. Had to be done. $5 each way well spent.
On the way back we hopped off at Chinatown and stopped for lunch
After lunch we headed back to the ferry because we wanted to be sure we were back if/when the bikes arrived from Oakland.
We got the good news that the bikes had been released and headed down to MotoMarin to await the container. Thanks to the guys at Moto Marin who could not have been more helpful even though they were in the process of closing the dealership. Yet another victim of the recession. :-(
In my opinion it is BMW's loss.
Finally! The container arrived.
I don't have any pics of offloading because everyone was working together to empty the container as fast as possible and get the bikes ready.
Suffice to say the offload was completed and although there had been some movement of bikes in the container, the bikes started and we were soon tired but happy riding up Highway 101 back to the hotel.
One more bit of excitement finished off the day, we came out of the restaurant opposite the hotel to see four black and whites in the hotel car park. First thought was had somebody messed with the bikes? No, it was something to with someone being chased by someone else with a gun. Anyway that is enough for now. I am off for breakfast.
PS plan for the day - into SF on the bikes and park up - should be interesting. Alcatraz tour. BBQ and watch recorded footie game.
