We left Monterey in the damp much to my surprise. It drizzled lightly but soon cleared as we moved away from the coast inland as we set out to cross central California to reach the Sierra Nevada mountains and the national parks. Temperatures climbed rapidly as we moved away from the sea into the thirties. Very hot to us but good preparation for death valley which would get even hotter!
For breakfast we were treated to a proper truck stop breakfast - monumental portions and I didn't feel like eating for a long time afterwards. In fact I skipped the evening meal completely. Another tick in the box for the tour.
It was a long hot day in the saddle before we reached Three Rivers where we were stopping for the night. Tried to catch up the blog but had very poor reception and the wifi kept timing out.
National parks tomorrow!
